this site revolves around [ ] as both a methodology and subject of research. Its structure follows the same ethos of simplicity it studies.
            a protocol is usually thought of as an abstract set of rules for how things connect, communicate, or flow
            (e.g. TCP/IP, exhibition standards).
            material protocols = rules and conventions of information/interaction as made visible and tangible in material form.
          
            why it matters?
            – highlights the politics of material choices
            – infrastructures aren’t invisible
            – enables experimentation: bending, queering, re-weaving protocols materially to explore new forms of presence and communication
          
As a methodology: experimenting with weaving, spatial design, and computational systems to surface, test, and rewrite the protocols that shape interaction.
